HACKENSACK, N.J. – Northeast Conference play resumes for the Fairleigh Dickinson softball team this weekend when the Knights host Robert Morris on Saturday and LIU Brooklyn on Sunday at the FDU Softball Field.
Saturday's doubleheader action against the Colonials starts at 1 p.m. Sunday's doubleheader versus the Blackbirds commences at 12 p.m. A senior day ceremony will precede the games on Sunday to honor the Knights' three seniors;
Stephanie Collins,
Cheryl Lopez and
Francine Villalobos.
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights fell in both halves of a doubleheader to Villanova; 10-0 in game one and 5-2 in nine innings in game two. Kellie Nathan and
Serena Meehan drove in one run each for the Knights in game two.
SERIES SCORES
Fairleigh Dickinson and Robert Morris have met 33 times all-time and Robert Morris owns a 24-9 record. The Colonials have won the last three meetings – a sweep in 2016 and the meeting at the 2015 NEC Tournament. The Knights did split the regular-season doubleheader at home back in 2015 (L, 6-1; W, 2-1).
LIU Brooklyn is 29-4 against Fairleigh Dickinson all-time. The Blackbirds have also taken the last three in the series; sweep in 2016 and a split in 2015. The Knights are 3-13 all-time at home against the Blackbirds.
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials take on Saint Peter's on Friday before taking on the Knights Saturday. Robert Morris sits at 13-27 overall and 5-3 in NEC play. Robert Morris snapped a five-game losing streak by beating Canisius 12-0 on Monday, April 17. Jordan Gurganus paces the team with a .367 batting average and runs with 28. Olivia Lorusso leads the team in RBI with 30.
SCOUTING LIU BROOKLYN
The Blackbirds sit at 17-27, 3-5 in NEC play and are coming off a loss to St. John's on Wednesday, 7-3. LIU Brooklyn split its last NEC doubleheader, at home to Wagner; W, 8-0 in game one; L, 2-1 in game two. This season on the road the Blackbirds are just 1-10, but 12-10 on neutral fields. Three Blackbirds are hitting over .300; Victoria Zamora, Angie Rizzi and Gina Bond.
