Obituary from the Macagna-Diffily Onorato Funeral Home

A member of the Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team from 1972-75, Conrad's name can be found throughout the Knights' record book. At the end of his three-year career he ranked first all-time with 1,174 points and at the time of his induction on May 17, 2002, he still ranked 11th in scoring and eighth with 420 career field goals.

During his career, Conrad earned three First Team All-New Jersey Team selections and as a senior was named Fairleigh Dickinson's Most Outstanding Male Athlete. He served as team captain that year and led the team in scoring, free throw shooting and assists.

Following his playing days, he spent the 1975-76 season as an assistant coach with the Knights.

Through the years, Conrad supported the University and the basketball program with his unbridled enthusiasm for the Knights and the game that he loved by frequently attending games and sharing his wisdom with the student-athletes and staff.

Director of Athletics David Langford:
"Rich Conrad represented the best of Fairleigh Dickinson. He was a loving husband and father, an active contributor in his community and a disciplined and creative professional. He gave of himself selflessly and was loved by all who knew him."

Head Men's Basketball Coach Greg Herenda:
"We lost one of Fairleigh Dickinson's true legends in Rich Conrad. He was a Hall of Fame player, student, alum, and friend to each and every man that wore the Burgundy and Blue. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten."

"He met with our team on many occasions and touched our players in so many ways. We will honor Richie next season and for many years to come. Number 41 will forever be a part of everything that we do."
