ORLAND, Fla. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team fell to Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights were defeated by the Crusaders 6-1 at USTA Center in their first match of the spring trip.
Diogo Garnel earned the lone win on the singles side defeating Valparaiso's Daniel Langston by a score of 6-4, 7-6 at fourth singles.
Gonzalo Quintana fell to Kyle Dunn 7-6, 6-2 at first singles while
Danilo Vukotic lost to Brandon Ancona 6-3, 6-2 at second singles.
Pedro Carvalho was defeated by Garrett Gardner 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at third singles.
Adam Chan lost to Brian Pecyna 7-6, 6-2 at fifth singles and
Salomon Koster fell to Franklin Brozovich 5-7, 6-3, 10-2 at sixth singles.
Miki Nobuzawa and Quintana picked up a win in doubles action, defeating Langston and Brian Pecyna, 6-3.
Chan and Vukotic fell to Jeffrey Schorsch and Charlie Emhardt, 6-1, at first doubles while Garnel and Carvalho were defeated by Chad Kissell, Dave Bacalla, 6-1, at second doubles.
"Our players fought hard today," said Assistant Coach
Jacob Mishkin. "The fight we showed today is what we need from here on out as we prepare for NEC play. Overall great team effort."
The Knights are back in action tomorrow against Liberty. The match is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
