FARMVILLE, Va. –
Madelynn Comly scored a career-high 27 points to help Fairleigh Dickinson pull away from Longwood and win 72-52 on Sunday afternoon. Nineteen of Comly's 27 came in the second half.
Fairleigh Dickinson (5-1) is off to its best start since the 1991-92 season when the Knights started 6-1. The Knights shot 10-of-20 from behind the arc and outscored Longwood 42-29 over the third and fourth quarters to grab the road win, in which the Knights never trailed.

Peter Cinella said post game, "Very happy with the toughness we showed on a long trip to win by 20 points. [Comly] had one of her best games."
Longwood (1-3) got as close as one in the third, 32-31, then the Knights answered with five straight points – two from
Peniel M'Bikata and three from
Kamrin Weimer. The Lancers would not get any closer over the remaining 17 minutes.
Another 5-0 spurt by the Knights at the end of the third pushed the lead to 11, 50-39, to start the fourth quarter.
Comly and
Courtney Blankenship combined to score eight straight points to push the Knights' advantage to 15, 58-43, with 6:58 left in the fourth. Fairleigh Dickinson would hold Longwood to nine points over the final six-plus minutes.
Defensively, the Knights held Longwood to 34-percent shooting overall and 26-percent from 3-point range. Fairleigh Dickinson also had a season-high six blocks. Fairleigh Dickinson shot 48-percent from the field, 50-percent from three and 82-percent from the free throw line.
Cinella added, "The team shot the ball well from the field, three and the free throw line. I liked how we defended without fouling. We showed different zones, and presses to keep [Longwood] out of rhythm."
Comly finished 7-of-11 from the field, 4-of-4 from three and 9-of-9 from the free throw line. The junior also grabbed six rebounds.
Lauren Francillon scored nine points and pulled down seven boards off the bench. Zamora had her second game of the year with five or more assists before fouling out.
Amina Markovic had a team-high and career-high five steals. The win is career win number 399 for Cinella as a head coach.
Longwood had a trio of players in double figures, led by 12 from Micaela Ellis.
The Knights head north to Washington D.C. on Tuesday for a game against Howard. The tip is at 7 p.m. in the nation's capital.
