Volleyball Returns to the Road This Weekend at Bryant and CCSU

HACKENSACK, N.J. – This weekend, the Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team returns to the road for the first two of their final four regular season matches this season.
 
The Knights take on Bryant (17-11, 7-3 NEC) on Friday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m. in Smithfield, Rhode Island and then square off with Central Connecticut State (14-7, 7-3 NEC) on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in New Britain, Connecticut. Each team topped the Knights 3-1 earlier this season at the Rothman Center.
 
THE KNIGHTS
The Knights wrapped up the home portion of their schedule last weekend with a pair of losses to Saint Francis U and Robert Morris. Freshman outside hitter Magdalena Maksimovic hammered a career-high 19 kills in the four-set loss to Saint Francis U (22-25, 16-25, 25-16, 20-25) on Friday and is averaging a team-best 2.62 kills per set this season. On Saturday, the Knights dropped a three-set match to Robert Morris. Prior to the match, the team honored its two seniors Taylor Wyckoff and Carly O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan enters her final four matches as a Knight with 1,400 career digs on her ledger. She is 61 digs away from taking over fifth all-time in school history.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs enter the weekend tied with Central Connecticut for second in the NEC at 7-3, a half-match back of first-place LIU Brooklyn at 8-3. The team is coming off of a split last weekend where they swept St. Francis Brooklyn and lost in four sets to LIU Brooklyn. Bryant also swept Hartford in a mid-week match. Junior Julia Flynn is averaging 3.73 kills per set in NEC play and leads the team with 3.31 kills per set on the season. Sophomore Brianna Bruny has posted a team-best .279 hitting percentage. Freshman Erika Ward has tallied a team-best 3.90 digs per set on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
CCSU currently sits in second place in the NEC standings entering the weekend. The team has won six of its last seven matches and split a pair last weekend with a 3-0 sweep of St. Francis Brooklyn and a 3-1 loss at LIU Brooklyn. Senior libero Lindsey Massicotte team was named the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday by the league office. Massicotte averaged 6.71 digs per set as CCSU held opponents to a .160 hitting percentage in two NEC matchups over the weekend. She currently ranks third in the NEC at 5.13 digs per set.

The Knights close out the regular season with a pair of matches on the road next weekend when they take on St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday, November 10 at 4:00 pm. and LIU Brooklyn on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
