Game 1 (Robert Morris 4, Fairleigh Dickinson 0)
Loren Stavrou (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson Classical) got the start for the third straight game for the Knights and kept the Colonials off the board through the first three frames. Kaitlin Ellzy -- the Robert Morris starter -- did the same.
Both of the Knights' hits came in the second inning. Kellie Natham (Arcadia, Calif./Maranatha) singled to start the inning and Cheryl Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) singled but the Knights could not connect them and went scoreless in the frame. The Knights would only get one other baserunner in the game -- Courtney Slye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) walked in the fifth.
The Colonials broke the scoreless game with a Hayley Stocks solo home run down the left-field line in the fourth inning. Stacey Capp and Lauren Hacket both scored in the fifth inning -- unearned runs -- to make it a 3-0 ball game.
The final run of the game came on a double by Capp that scored one in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-0.
Stavrou (4-15) took the loss after going six innings while giving up two earned runs and striking out three. Ellzy (12-12) went the distance allowed just the three baserunners and struck out four.
Game Two (Robert Morris 3, Fairleigh Dickinson 0)
Robert Morris got a runner to third in the top of the first inning, however, Cheryl Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) was able to leave the runner there and get out of the inning.
Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) doubled in the top of the second and then moved to third on a wild pitch but was stranded there when Courtney Slye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) flew out to right.
In the Robert Morris half of the second, the Colonials got the first two batters on and moved them to second and third with a sacrifice. Stacey Copp then doubled to right center to give the home side a 2-0 advantage.
Fairleigh Dickinson got the first two batter aboard in the fifth. Two straight fielder's choices and a ground out ended the frame without a Knight run.
Robert Morris added some insurance with an RBI single off the bat of Olivia Larusso in the home half of the fifth.
Lopez (5-12) went the full six innings in the loss while giving up three runs, allowing eight hits and striking out one batter. Laura Coulter (4-8) pitched the complete game for the Colonials and allowed five hits and struck out two.
