HACKENSACK, N.J. - The final weekend of the 2016 regular season features a trip to Pennsylvania for the Fairleigh Dickinson Softball team. The Knights will play a two at Saint Francis U on Saturday and two more at Robert Morris on Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader at Saint Francis U starts at 1 and Sunday's at Robert Morris is slated for a noon start.
Fairleigh Dickinson is coming off a split doubleheader with Wagner last Saturday and on Sunday, the Knights dropped both halves of a doubleheader against Bryant.
SERIES SCORE
Saint Francis U and Fairleigh Dickinson have split the prior 30 all-time meetings evenly. The Knights have won nine of the last 10 in the series and five straight in Loretto, Pennsylvania. Against Robert Morris, the Knights are 9-22 all-time. Fairleigh Dickinson swept the doubleheader out in Moon Township back in 2014 but lost their last game at Robert Morris -- last season in the Northeast Conference Tournament.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Saint Francis U --- The Red Flash sit at 31-22, 11-3 in NEC play currently. The offense leads the NEC in every offensive category and set a new conference record for home runs in a season with 76. Of those 76, 18 have come from Jordan Seneca; three other players have hit at least 10 and four more have hit at least four this season. In the circle for SFU, all four pitchers have recorded at least six wins, led by Ketarah DeVries' 12. Blaire Lauthers leads the staff with a 2.66 ERA over 55 innings.
Robert Morris --- The Colonial offense is paced by Jordan Gurganus and her .354 average. Kristen Gablet has scored the most runs for Robert Morris with 27 and Haileigh Stocks has knocked in the most. Kaitlin Ellzy paces the pitching staff with a 3.10 ERA and an 11-12 record over 36 appearances and 149 innings. Robert Morris is 3-3 in its last six games, prior to that the Colonials had won three straight. Robert Morris split with Central Connecticut on Wednesday in its most recent doubleheader.
NEC STANDINGS
Fairleigh Dickinson is currently sixth in the NEC standings at 5-7. The Knights need to go at least 3-1 -- no losses to Robert Morris -- over its last four games in order to reach the NEC Tournament for the third straight season. Bryant, LIU Brooklyn and Saint Francis have clinched three of the four spots already. Fairleigh Dickinson, Robert Morris and Wager -- who is in seventh -- are vying for the final spot.
AMONG NEC LEADERS
Freshman
Reanna Cervantes (Upland, Calif./Upland) sits fifth in the NEC in slugging percentage at .588, which is tops on the Knights. Cervantes is also tied for third with three triples this season and leads the NEC in sacrifice flies with six.
Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) and
Francine Villalobos (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) sit first and second in the league in stolen bases. Wilen leads the way with 25 and Villalobos is second with 12 thefts.
