Box Score 2 TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team split a doubleheader with NYIT on Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The Knights (10-9) dropped the first game before pounding out 13 hits to top the Bears (9-11) by a score of 11-1 in the second game.
Freshman Craig Alleyne hit two home runs in the second game and classmate
Chris Kachmar (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) tossed 6.2 solid innings to earn his third victory of the season.
GAME ONENYIT connected on four home runs to take the first game 6-3. The Bears hit solo home runs in the second and fifth innings and two-run shots in the third and seventh.
FDU also capitalized on the long ball with senior
Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) belting a solo home run in the bottom of the second.
Trailing 3-1, the Knights plated a run in the bottom of the third as a bunt single by junior
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) and a NYIT throwing error allowed freshman
Bradley Rodier (Sichlerville, N.J./Timber Creek) to score.
Down 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Knights cut the deficit to a single run on a double by senior
John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) and an RBI base hit from senior
Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ). However, FDU was unable to tie the game as NYIT's Chris Johnson came on in relief to record the final out.
The Bears increased their lead in the top of the seventh as Louis Mele hit a two-run home run.
Freshman
Corey Zeller (Carroll, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) started on the mound for the Knights and takes the loss after surrendering four runs over 4.2 innings. He falls to 2-1 on the season. Zeller allowed five hits and two walks. He struck out six.
NYIT's Elias Martinez earned the victory with 5.2 innings. Chris Johnson pitched the final four outs to record the save.
Freshman
Evan McDonald (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) had two hits in the game.

Ryan Brennan (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville) added a three-run shot later in the frame to give the Knights an early 4-0 lead.
FDU's final run of the first inning came on a two-out RBI single by senior
Jose DeLeon (Paterson, N.J./Eastside).
Senior
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) made it a 6-0 game with a RBI single in the second inning.
The Knights increased their lead to 9-0 with three runs in the third inning, the big hit coming on a two-run double by McDonald.
Alleyne's second home run of the day made it 10-0 in the fifth inning.
Freshman
Chris Kachmar (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) threw 6.2 solid innings to earn the victory. He allowed just six hits and struck out five, while not walking a batter and allowing just one unearned run. He picked up the win to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Alleyne finished the second game with two hits, two RBI and three runs scored in five at bats. Giakas, McDonald and Brennan also had two hits each. McDonald also drew two walks to reach base four times. He also drove in two runs. Brennan led the Knights with three runs batted in in the game.
FDU homered three times in the second game and four times total on the day.
The series will continue with two games on Saturday at NYIT.
