TWITTERHACKENSACK, N.J. - Four games in Queens over Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Queens, New York at the St. John's Invitational is what is up next for the Fairleigh Dickinson softball team.
On Friday the Knights will play host St. John's at 4 p.m. The game will available on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com. Saturday will see the Knights play Howard at 3 p.m. and on Sunday, Fairleigh Dickinson will play Samford at 11 a.m. and Manhattan at 1 p.m.
St. John's enters the weekend at 9-12 overall and is coming off a win over Stony Brook in the home opener by the score of 6-1. Howard sits at 3-13 on the season and is 3-2 in its last five games. Like the Knights, the Bison split a doubleheader with UMBC. Samford has a record of 12-12 coming into the weekend. Manhattan owns a record of 7-5 in 2016.
Fairleigh Dickinson is 2-9 all-time against St. John's, 1-0 against Howard, 15-11 against Manhattan and the Knights have never faced Samford before in softball.
The Knights spent last weekend out in California at the Loyola Marymount Tournament. There the Knights went 1-5 with the coming over LMU 12-11. The Knights gave up 10 or more runs in four games and had a team ERA of 11.12 over the six games.
Reanna Cervantes (Upland, Calif./Upland) hit .438 out in California and had 6 RBI -- four in the win. Fellow freshman,
Kellie Natham (Arcadia, Calif./Maranatha) hit .316 over the six games. Natham scored three runs, drove in three and hit a homer.
Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) hit a team leading .450 out in the Golden State. The senior scored a run and drove in three more. Wilen also tied the school record in doubles with her 34th of her career against Harvard on March 15.
After this weekend, Fairleigh Dickinson will open up the home portion of the schedule when the Knights host Rider on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
