Softball Swept in Doubleheader by Harvard & Loyola Marymount

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOS ANGELES - The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team dropped games to Harvard and Loyola Marymount on the final day of the LMU Tournament in Los Angeles, California.

The two losses drop the Knights record to 2-10 on the season. Fairleigh Dickinson will compete at the St. John's Invite this coming weekend with four games over three days.

Game 2
Loyola Marymount scored once in the first, eight times in the second and one in the third to take an 11-0 lead over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) led off the game with a single but was left aboard by the Knights. The Lions responded with a home run from Stephanie Crist in the bottom half.

Loyola Marymount (16-8) got a home run from A Brown to lead-off the bottom of the second. Four batters later, Stephanie Maciel doubled down the right field to drive in a run. Loren Stavrou (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson Classical) came in and Megan Von Behern doubled to center to drive in another run to make it 3-0 Loyola Marymount.

Crist then came up two batters later and drew an RBI walk. S. Ybarra unloaded the bases with a grand slam to make it 9-0 Lions.

After the Knights went down in order, the Lions added two more runs on an Alex Finie double to right center.

The Knights got on the board in the top of the fifth. Francine Villalobos (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) singled to center with two outs. Kellie Natham (Arcadia, Calif./Maranatha) then singled to move Villalobos to third. Reanna Cervantes (Upland, Calif./Upland) singled to left to bring home Villalobos.

Game 1
Harvard scored three runs in the bottom of the first to the early and Morgan Groom allowed just two Knights to reach base in the first four innings.

Catherine Callaway hit a two-out, two-run double to right-center. Giana Panariello and Maddy Kaplan scored on the play. Haley Davis then singled to second base to score Callaway.

Kaplan walked to lead off the bottom of the third inning for Harvard. She would come around the score the third run for the Crimson on a sacrifice bunt from Callaway.

Stephanie Collins (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) would get the Knights' first hit in the top of the fifth. Collins was caught stealing to end the frame.

Harvard made it 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth when Jillian Leslie singled up the middle, off Madison Lerma (Escondido, Calif./Escondido), and Panariello scored.

Cheryl Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) doubled to lead-off the sixth inning and came around to score on a Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) double to left center. Wilen now has 34 career doubles, which ties a school record.

After Lerma pitched a scoreless sixth, Hollier Mercier walked to lead off the top of the seventh for Fairleigh Dickinson. Lerma then singled to move Mercier to second. After an out, Lopez doubled again, this time, to bring in Mercier.

Lerma (0-2) was saddled with the loss after pitching six innings. The junior struck out one while giving up five runs on five hits.
