Box Score 2 ELON, N.C. - The first game of the season for Fairleigh Dickinson saw the Knights drop a 12-5 contest to North Carolina A&T.
Madison Lerma (Escondido, Calif./Escondido) drove in two runs as well as
Kellie Natham (Arcadia, Calif./Maranatha).
Francine Villalobos (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) has two hits and seven other Knights had at least one.
The Aggies got on the board first in the bottom of the second with a solo home run by Kimberly Brunson.
Fairleigh Dickinson answered in the top of the third inning with four runs to take a 4-1 lead. Lerma drove in
Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) and
Serena Meehan (Couina, Calif./Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary). Three batters later Natham recorded her first career RBIs when
Reanna Cervantes (Upland, Calif./Upland) and Lerma scored on a single through the right side.
The Aggies responded with plating five more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 12-5. Zadaisha Waddell had three RBI at the plate and picked up the win in the circle. Kimberly Brunson, Janika May and Lorrin Turner had two RBI apiece as well for North Carolina A&T.
Cervantes got one back for the Knights in the top of the fifth when she grounded out to second and Hollie Mercier scored.

Lerma (0-1) took the loss in the circle. The junior allowed seven runs over four innings and had one strikeout.
Game 2
ELON, N.C. - The second game of the day saw the Knights fell 6-0 to the host Phoenix of Elon.
Elon (5-6) got seven shutout innings from Elise Walton (3-1), who held the Knights to three hits on the afternoon.
Madison Lerma (Escondido, Calif./Escondido), Hollie Mercier and
Courtney Slye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) had the three Knight hits.
Fairleigh Dickinson (0-2) had base runners in the first, third and sixth innings.
Mercier was stranded in the first and
Stephanie Collins (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) was caught stealing to end the third. In the sixth
Courtney Slye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) singled but then was thrown out trying to go first-to-third on a Mercier single.
The Phoenix got on the board early when Hannah Olson scored on an Emily Roper fielder's choice in the bottom of the first.
Elon then scored twice in third and fourth innings. Olson drove in one on a single and Jenna Riley scored on a Knight error on the play in third. In the fourth Olson drove in her second of the day with a double down the right field line and Aliana Hall singled to short and Kristen Hoover scored.
Ashtyn Foddrell homered in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-0 Elon.
Cheryl Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) (0-1) pitched five innings, striking out two and allowing six runs on eight hits.
Fairleigh Dickinson and Elon turn right around and play a double header against one another tomorrow.
