Men’s Basketball to Host NEC Quarterfinal, Look to Earn #2 Seed on Saturday

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team has secured a top-four seed and will host a Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinal at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center on March 2.  The Knights (14-14, 10-7 NEC) opponent for the opening round is still to be determined.  The official tip-off time of the game is still to be announced, but it will start at either 7 or 9 p.m.
 
The Knights will close the regular season at Central Connecticut on Saturday afternoon.

Tickets can be purchased in advance of the game by contacting Sean Morrison at 201-692-9552.  Advanced sales will begin on Tuesday, March 1 at 9 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2.  Remaining tickets can be purchased at the door beginning one hour prior to tip-off.  The doors to Stratis Arena will also open one hour before the scheduled start of the game.

Regular Season Finale: 
The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team travels to New Britain, Connecticut to close the 2016 regular season against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils.  The Knights (14-14, 10-7 NEC) enter the game in a four-way tie for second place in the Northeast Conference standings, but FDU is currently at the top of that group based on tiebreakers.
 
The Blue Devils (4-24, 3-14 NEC) will be honoring their longtime coach Howie Dickenman following the game.  Dickenman is retiring after 20 years coaching at CCSU.

NEC Tournament Home Game:  The Knights clinched a home game in the first round of the 2016 NEC Tournament with their victory over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday.  FDU can claim the #2 seed with a win on Saturday.  The Knights will host an NEC Tournament Quarterfinal game at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center on Wednesday, March 2.
 
A Win Today:  With a win over Central Connecticut on Saturday, the Knights can reach 11 NEC victories in a season for the first time since the 2005-06 season.  That year FDU went 14-4 in conference and won the regular season title.  The Knights current total of 10 NEC victories has been reached just once between 2005-06 and this season, the 2009-10 team went 10-8 in NEC play.
 
Home Tournament Game:  The Knights will host a NEC Tournament game at Startis Arena inside the Rothman Center on March 2.  It will be FDU's first home NEC Tournament contest since the 2005-06 season when the Knights hosted the NEC Championship game.
 
Wins in a Season:  The Knights 14 wins this season are the most since the 2006-07 team posted 14.  With a win on Saturday at CCSU this year's team could become the first FDU squad to finish the regular season with a winning percentage above .500 since the 2005-06 team finished the regular season 18-10.
