Men's Basketball Travels to Mount St. Mary's for Thursday Night Game

Emmitsburg, Md.The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team begins the final road trip of the regular season with a visit to Mount St. Mary's on Thursday night.  The Knights (13-14, 9-7 NEC) and Mountaineers (13-16, 10-6 NEC) have both qualified for the 2016 NEC Tournament, but tournament seeds are still up for grabs in the tightly packed Northeast Conference.
 
FDU and the Mount are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip at Knott Arena.
 
The Knights are currently tied for fourth in the NEC, but still have a chance to capture a share of the regular season title and the #1 seed with two victories and help from other results around the league.  FDU is currently two games behind first place Wagner (11-5) and one behind the second place tie of Sacred Heart (10-6) and Mount (10-6).
 
After Thursday night's game, FDU will travel to New Britain, Connecticut to close the regular season against Central Connecticut.

Series History:  This is the 53rd meeting in the all-time series between these programs with the series even at 26-26e.  Mount won both contests last year and the teams split two meetings during the 2013-14 season.  FDU's last victory in the series came on January 9, 2014 an 85-79 victory for the Knights at Stratis Arena.  Mount won when the teams met in Hackensack earlier this season.
 
Holloway Hallmark is Consistency:  Freshman forward Mike Holloway (Pittsgrove, N.J./Arthur P. Schalick ) continued his strong play by averaging 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over two games last week.  The two-time NEC Rookie of the Week is averaging 11.7 ppg in conference and shooting a conference-best 65.0 percent from the field in league play.  Holloway has scored in double figures in 12-of-15 NEC games, including a stretch of eight straight contests.  Over his last eight games he is averaging 13.9 points/game and is 43-62 from the floor (69.4 percent).

Earl's Improvement:  Sophomore Earl Potts Jr. (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding ) lifted his shooting percentages from 41.4 percent from the field and 24.1 percent from long range in his freshman season to a 50.9 percent rate from the floor and 38.4 percent clip from distance this season.  Over his last four games, Potts is shooting 65.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 from behind the arc.  He is averaging 13.8 points per game and grabbing 5.9 rebounds per game on the season.
 
Return to the Tournament:  On Wednesday, March 2 the Knights will play in the 2016 NEC Tournament.  The appearance will be the second for FDU in three seasons under head coach Greg Herenda.  The Knights' had made just one postseason appearance (2010) in the six seasons prior to Herenda's arrival in Hackensack.  The Knights also have the chance to host a home game in the tournament for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
 
100 Assists:  Sophomore Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) needs two assists to reach 100 on the season.  He enters the day with 98 on the season and 184 in his two-year collegiate career.  Anderson is also just 21 points shy of 750 for his career.
