The Knights (3-8-1, 1-1-1 NEC)
As NEC action heats up, the Knights are looking to build off the momentum from last Saturday's 2-0 win over Bryant.
Fairleigh Dickinson currently sits in the fourth and final postseason spot with five games remaining. They trail Saint Francis by one game for the third spot in the conference and hold a slim one-game lead over CCSU, who sits in fifth.
The team earned a crucial win over Bryant last time out at University Stadium. Back-to-back goals in the second half by
David Bokumabi and
Cristian Nunez propelled the Knights to the victory. Both goals were setup by redshirt-freshman
Daniel Lasarte (Madrid, Spain/Defiance (Ohio)). With his two helpers on Saturday, Lasarte now has a team-high three assists on the season.
For his performance in the win, Bokumabi earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors. The sophomore midfielder's goal was his first as a Knight.
The victory was head coach
Seth Roland's 99
th in the NEC. Now in his 20
th season at the helm for Fairleigh Dickinson, Roland boasts a career conference record of 99-47-27 (.645).
The Red Flash (9-5, 2-1 NEC)
The Red Flash enter Friday's game fresh off of a 3-0 victory over LIU Brooklyn last week. Jack Webber scored once in each half to lead the offense and Pedro Neto had two assists in the victory. SFU handed LIU its first conference loss since 2014.
The team currently sits in third place in the NEC standings with wins over LIU Brooklyn and Sacred Heart. Their lone loss came to the top team in the conference St. Francis Brooklyn.
Entering Friday's contest, the Red Flash lead the conference in shots per game (13.1) and rank third in scoring with 19 goals on the season.
Defensively, the team has done an excellent job of limiting the opposition and are tied for first in goals allowed at 0.86 per contest.
The Blue Devils (2-8-2, 1-1 NEC)
CCSU will look to continue its momentum after its 2-1 overtime victory last Sunday against Sacred Heart.
Through two games, the Blue Devils currently sit in fifth in the NEC standings. The team travels to first-place St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday before hosting the Knights on Sunday in New Britain, Conn.
Like the Knights, the Blue Devils have struggled to score at time this season. The two teams are tied for sixth in scoring with 10 goals through their first 11 games. Daquan King leads the team with three goals on the campaign.
