Women's Basketball Tries for 2-0 Start in NEC Play against Bryant

HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball will seek a 2-0 start in conference play when they host Bryant on Monday at the Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center as part of a men's and women's doubleheader with the men following. 

OPENING TIP
FDU seeks a 2-0 start in Northeast Conference play since the 2012-13 season. 

SERIES SCORE
Bryant and FDU battle for the 13th time. Bryant owns an 8-4 record in the previous 12 meetings and have won five straight meetings. The last win for FDU came back in the 2011-12 season up in Smithfield, 54-43. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Knights committed a season-low 11 turnovers and had Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) (23), Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) (17) and Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) (11) scored in double figures as they won thier NEC opener for the first time in three years, 65-61 over St. Francis Brooklyn. 

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant won its NEC opener over Central Connecticut, 70-56, at home. The Bulldogs are 2-1 in thier last three games, that ended a fou game losing streak. The common opponent for Bryant and FDU is UMass Lowell. The Bulldogs beat the River Hawks 83-64 back in November, while FDU loss to them 78-67 in December. The Bulldogs are led by Breanna Rucker at 13.5 points per game. Tiersa Winder is right behind at 13.3 per game and Ivory Bailey is also double figures at 12.8 per game. 

1,200 POINTS & COUNTING
Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) (1,542) and Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) (1,284) passed the 1,000-point milestone last season. Livermore is the sixth player to reach 1500. 

NEW POINT
The graduation of Amanda Andrades (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and her 175 assists (5.8 apg) and 36.8 minutes leaves a big hole for the Knights. Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage), Madelynn Comly (Littlestown, Pa./Delone Catholic) and Natalie Zamora (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) and will compete for those minutes and assists. 

AMONGST THE TREES
FDU led the NEC in blocks per game last season (3.83) and was second in total blocks with 115. FDU is second so far this season with 4.62 per game. 

SECOND CHANCES
FDU is third in total OREB with 160. The Knights are second in OREB per game at 15.7.

TURNOVERS! JUST NOT APPLE
FDU had only 11 turnovers vs. St. Francis Brooklyn. The prior two, FDU had 24 turnovers versus Brown and 27 versus Siena. It was the fourth and fifth times that the Knights have commited at least 20 in a game. FDU has commited 250 turnovers compared to 137 assists this season.
