STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Junior
Shreya Pasricha (New Delhi, India/Amity International School) fell in the A Flight singles final against Natallia Vavulina in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, on the final day of the Stony Brook Invitational.
Pasricha was looking for her first collegiate tournament title. Pasricha had only dropped one set prior to the final against Vavulina.
The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team returns to action on Friday when they travel to Annapolis, Maryland for the two-day Navy Invitational.
DAY TWO
STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team continued play on the second day of the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday.
In doubles action,
Alex Bryant (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia/Loreto Kirribilli) and Bowdoin College's Tess Trinka fell 6-1 to St. John's duo Natallia Vavulina/Olaya Inclan Solis.
In A flight singles,
Shreya Pasricha (New Delhi, India/Amity International School) won her quarterfinal match 6-2, 6-3 against Stony Brook's Carrion Rodriguez.
Pasricha then won in the semifinals 6-1, 6-2 over Navy's Amanda Keller. The junior is in the finals against Natallia Vavulina of St. John's and will continue play tomorrow in the last day of the Stony Brook Invitational. Gisela Castany (Barcelona, Spain) lost her quarterfinal main draw B flight singles match 6-0, 6-3. Bryant won her D flight singles back-draw
match 8-5 while Nicole Chis (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park) fell in her A flight singles back-draw
match 8-1.Katarina Pavlovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Srednja Skola Dositej) won her quarterfinal back-draw match in C flight singles 8-1 against Karen McKeough from Fairfield.
Pavlovic then lost in the semifinals 9-8 against Stony Brook's Beck Shtlikind
.The tie-breaker score was 7-2. Bryant lost her semifinals D flight back draw singles match 8-4 to Louise Badoche from Stony Brook.

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team started the fall segment of their 2015-16 season on Friday, September 11 at the Stony Brook Invitational in Stony Brook, New York.
In A Flight doubles,
Alex Bryant (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia/Loreto Kirribilli) partnered with Bowdoin College's Tess Trinka to top Army's duo Eva Sung/Martonelli including a 7-6. The pair went on to win their quarterfinal match, 7-5.
Also in A Flight doubles, the team of juniors
Nicole Chis (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park)/
Shreya Pasricha (New Delhi, India/Amity International School) played Amanda Keller/Kristine Rojo from Navy and fell 6-3. In B Flight doubles, senior
Gisela Castany (Barcelona, Spain)/sophomore
Katarina Pavlovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Srednja Skola Dositej) lost to St. John's Jaide Collins/Irina Preotescu, 6-4.
In A flight singles action, Pasricha--a junior--won her Round-of-16 match 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 over Logan Antill of Navy while Chis fell 6-4, 6-2 to Natallia Vavulina of St. John's.
Castany won her B Flight match 6-3, 0-6, 10-8. Pavlovic lost to Josie Rodgers of Navy in C Flight singles; 1-6, 6-2, 10-5. Bryant came up short against Leslie Frankland of Army in their D Flight match 2-6, 6-4, 10-2.
The Knights return to action tomorrow for the second day of competition.
