Hanna Robertson (Eagle Mountain, Utah/West Lake) scored her first collegiate goal to give the Knights a win against Rider on Thursday night, the Knights hit the road to Hempstead, New York to take on Colonial Athletic Association foe Hofstra at 2 p.m.
The Knights (1-1) are coming off their first win of the season with the 2-1 double-overtime triumph over the Broncs.
Carly Tice (Highland Falls, N.Y./James I. O'Neill ) also scored for the Knights. The game against Hofstra marks the second of five games in a ten-day span for the Knights.
The Pride have never lost to Knights—3-0-1—in the four meetings all-time between the two schools. The tie came back in 2006 in Teaneck.
Hofstra opened the season with close losses to No. 6 Penn State, 2-1, and No. 24 Rutgers, 1-0, out in University Park, Pennsylvania. The Pride are coming off a 2-0 win over Columbia on Friday. Leah Galton and Katie Gerdes got second half goals to secure the win. Hofstra is led by Galton with four points (2 goals) and three different players have one assist.
The 28 shots that Fairleigh Dickinson got off against Rider is the second highest total in the last two seasons. That total is only topped by a 36 shot performance against Robert Morris back on October 12 of last season.
Tice's goal against Rider was her 10th in a Knight uniform. She is now one of four current Knights with at least 10 goals in their careers.
Rachel Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central ) remains two goals away from being the all-time leader in program history.
