Knights Cruise Past Peacocks, 73-52

Box Score

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson had four players score in double figures, led by Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area)'s 23, as the Knights cruised by the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 73-52, to snap a two-game losing streak.

Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) had 16 points (6-of-12), hitting four three-pointers—all in the second half. Jackie Jackson ( Gaithersburg, Md./ Gaithersburg) had 11 off the bench and Brianna Thomas (Baldwin, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) had 10 for the Knights. Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) had four points, five rebounds and four assists. Sajanna Bethea had 17 to lead Saint Peter's.

Peter Cinella said postgame, "Overall that was our best team effort. We came to play in every quarter. Livermore was dominant and we got her the ball in the right spots. I saw some good things from Thomas and Jackson. Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) did a good job of running the team. We ran our offense well and executed the defensive."

"To play with that much effort and energy considering all of the travel we have had and some of the tough road trips. It was good to see that effort tonight."

Saint Peter's (1-8) led 3-2 one minute into game and that was the only lead Fairleigh Dickinson (2-6) allowed the Peacocks to enjoy as the Knights took the lead back at 4-3 and never looked back.

Once the Knights took the lead, they used a 13-0 run in the first quarter to take a 15-3 lead on a layup from Jackie Jackson ( Gaithersburg, Md./ Gaithersburg). The Peacocks did mount a run at the end of the quarter to cut the lead to 17-15 Knights at the end of one.

Fairleigh Dickinson then outscored Saint Peter's 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 33-21 lead into halftime.

After the intermission, the Knights maintained their advantage and increased their lead due to closing the third on a 14-4 run and take a 57-33 lead. The Knight lead swelled to 30, 68-38, with 5:20 to play in the game before Saint Peter's closed the gap to the final margin of 22.

Fairleigh Dickinson returns to the court on Friday, December 18 as part of a double header with the men when they host UMass Lowell at 5:30.
