Women's Basketball Squares Off with Brown Tuesday

HACKENSACK, N.J. – In the first of two games in back-to-back days the Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team will take on the Brown Bears on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center.

OPENING TIP
The Knights are coming off an 81-75 win over Monmouth back on December 20th, which moved their record to 3-7. Brown comes into the game at 9-1 and hold a four-game winning streak with wins over Rhode Island, Binghamton, Bryant and Kent State.

SERIES SCORE
Brown has won all three prior meetings between the two sides. The Bears won last season, 69-64, up in Providence, R.I. Each of the last two meetings have been two possession games. FDU is 8-28 all-time against the Ivy League.

LAST TIME OUT
FDU hit 23-of-29 free throws, including 18 in the 4th quarter, to hold on and beat Monmouth 81-75. The 23 makes is a season-best for FDU. Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) combined for 51 of the 81 for the Knights.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown sits at 9-1 currently with the lone loss coming at Manhattan by the score of 80-56 back on November 29. The Bears' four straight wins came by four, two, 17 and five. Brown is led by senior Jordin Alexander at 14.3 points per game. Freshman Shayna Mehta is right on her heels at 14.2. Erika Stevens leads the team in rebounding at 7.3 a game. Stevens also scores 10 a game.

AMONGST THE TREES
FDU led the NEC in blocks per game last season (3.83) and was second in total blocks with 115. Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) led the Knights with 70. FDU is second so far this season with 4.7 per game.

FDU has made 19 three-pointers, 40%, (19-of-47) in its last four games after making only nine through its first five. The Knights are only shooting 27.3% on the season still.
