Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team got off to a slow start and was not able to recover as the Knights fell, 3-0, to Northeast Conference foe Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon on the road. With the loss, the Knights fall to 1-4 in conference while the Colonials see their season at 4-1 in NEC play.
In the first set, the Colonials got out to an unforgiving lead. At the 17-13 mark, RMU was able to pick up its offensive pressure and reeled off eight of the next 10 points for a 25-15 set-one win.
For the second set, RMU maintained their control. The Knights attempted to rally back cutting their deficit to just three 14-11 but the Colonials responded. They landed two consecutive kills to break open another cushion the Knights could not combat. RMU won the second set, 25-14.
The third set mimicked much of the previous two with the Colonials holding the advantage. Senior setter
Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) assisted on three consecutive kills for the Knights, one for sophomore
Taylor Wyckoff (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) and two for sophomore
Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) midway through the set. But it was an assist from freshman
Savanna Wray (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) for a Lolland kill that brought the Knights within two 14-12. However, the Colonials picked up the momentum and began to break away again to eventually take the final set, 25-20.
Lolland totaled 11 kills while junior
Caroline Laton (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) (6) and senior
Maddie Gibbons (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights) (4) landed some of their own. Butler contributed 25 assists. Wray and sophomore
Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) recorded 13 and 8 digs respectively.
