W. Volleyball Set To Open NEC Play This Weekend

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team (2-11)  will open Northeast Conference play this weekend with the first match being Saturday Sept 27, against Robert Morris (1-13) at 1 p.m. in Moon Township, Pa., before traveling to Loretto, Pa. to face Saint Francis U (4-10) on Sunday Sept 28, with first serve at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Knights come into NEC play after falling to Quinnipiac on Wednesday, Sept 24, in five  sets, with scores of 21-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-21 and 15-11.  Freshman Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) would lead the offense for FDU with 14 kills, while sophomore Caroline Laton (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) followed closely with 10 kills. Junior Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) would be a force at the net with 43 assists, along with Senior Hanifa Addi (Springdale, Md./Charles H. Flowers), who would lead the team with a career-high 10 blocks. On defense it was senior Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) that led the Knights with 24 digs, followed by freshman Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) with 15 digs and junior Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) with 10 digs.

Scouting the Colonials
Robert Morris will be coming into the weekend on a seven match losing streak after going 0-3 at the Golden Grizzly Invite in Oakland Mich., falling 0-3 to UC-Irvine, 1-3 to Oakland and 2-3 to Bowling Green. The Colonials offense is led by senior Becky Jay with 96 kills and sophomore Arden Fisher with 85 kills. Freshman Brianna Frakes leads Robert Morris with 351 assists. On defense for the Colonials its senior Melissa Bograd that has a team-leading 207 digs, along with Jay at the net with 43 total blocks.

Scouting the Red Flash
Saint Francis U is coming into the weekend after hosting the Red Flash Classic in Loretto, Pa., where they beat Morgan State 3-1 and fell to George Mason and Loyola, 1-3 and 0-3, respectively. The Red Flash will also be taking on Sacred Heart Saturday Sept 27, before facing the Knights on Sunday. Saint Francis U's offense is led by junior Hannah Kutny with 147 kills, she is followed by freshman Emily Marcinowski with 113 kills. At the net the Red Flash are led by senior Alanna Blenkam who has 521 assists and sophomore Sophie Murdock who has 44 total blocks. On defense its freshman Jenna Veres and Kutny with 226 and 146 digs, respectively.
 
Up Next 
Following the weekends matches, FDU will return home to the Stratis Arena in Hackensack, N.J. to take on LIU Brooklyn on Saturday Oct. 4 at 1 p.m., before hosting St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday Oct. 5, with first serve at 1 p.m.
