HACKENSACK, N.J. --  The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team (2-9) will host NJIT (3-8) in its 2014 home opener, on Wednesday Sept. 17, inside of the Stratis Arena, with first serve scheduled at 7 p.m.

The Knights come into play Wednesday after competing at the Friar Classic in Providence, R.I. FDU would start the tournament with a come from behind win against Quinnipiac in five sets, before falling to Providence and Morgan State. Freshman Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) recorded two double-doubles, with the first coming against the Bobcats as she recorded 15 kills and 13 digs. Her second double-double of the weekend would come against the Friars with 13 kills and 14 digs. Junior Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) would record her first double-double of the season after accumulating 33 assists and 14 digs against Providence. Senior Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) continues to make her way into the record books moving into seventh all-time in career digs with 1,150.

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT comes into the match sporting a 3-8 record after competing at the Rhode Island Tournament last weekend. The Highlanders fell to Rhode Island, 3-0, Rutgers 3-0 and Cincinnati, 3-0. NJIT's offense is led by senior Fran Edmondson, who has 90 kills on the season, and junior Danica Vukotic, who follows closely with 88 kills while being set up by sophomore Grace Gao's team-leading 189 assists. The Highlanders defense is supported by the senior duo of Camilla Tinari and Valerie Carroll, with 102 digs and 25 blocks, respectively.
