TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (0-2) returns to the courts on Saturday to face Fairfield in Stamford, Conn. at 8 p.m.
The Knights last played on Feb. 8 at Lehigh, losing to the Mountain Hawks, 5-2. After dropping the doubles point, FDU won two out of six singles matches. Sophomore
Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) won a close match at No. 1, 6-1, 4-6, 6-5 (8-6), while freshman
Jacob Whalley ( Wirral, England/Calday Grange Grammar School) won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2.
The Stags are coming off a second-place finish in the MAAC last year. This season, Fairfield is 4-2, having lost just two points combined in its four wins. Last season, George Tioutine earned First Team All-MAAC honors at No. 2 singles, while junior Cameron Amyot and senior Ian Tesmond earned First Team accolades at No. 2 doubles last season. Amyot, Tesmond and sophomore Omir Solomon were all named to the Second Team.
The Knights will return to action on March 8 against NYIT for a 6:30 p.m. match in Old Westbury, N.Y.
