Box Score HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson's women's volleyball team fell to Sacred Heart in three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 27-25. With the win the Pioneers improve to 9-17 overall and 4-8 in NEC play, while the Knights fall to 6-21 overall and 4-8 in NEC play.
The match starts with Sacred Heart taking an early 4-2 lead with a kill from freshman
Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota). The Pioneers extend their lead taking four of the next five points which includes a kill from freshman
Taylor Wyckoff (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) to bring the score to 8-3. FDU battles back going on a 3-1 point run with two Sacred Heart attack errors to close the gap making the score 6-9. The teams exchange the next six points with a kill from O'Sullivan and a service ace from sophomore
Caroline Laton (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) to bring the score to 12-9. The Pioneers would go off taking 10 of the next 12 points scored to bring their lead to 22-11 with two kills from O'Sullivan. The Knights would attempt to make a comeback going on a 4-1 point run with a kill from Wyckoff and freshman
Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) to bring the score to 23-15. Sacred Heart would close the set taking the last two point in a row to make the score 25-15.
The second set has FDU taking its first lead of the match jumping out to a 4-1 lead with two kills from O'Sullivan. The teams exchange the next 12 points with a kill from senior
Hanifa Addi (Springdale, Md./Charles H. Flowers), and Laton to bring the score to 10-7. The Pioneers gain the lead after taking four points unanswered to bring the score to 11-10. The Knights regain the lead going on a 7-4 point run with a kill from Addi and Wyckoff to bring the score to 18-14. Sacred Heart takes the lead taking 5 points unanswered to bring the score to 19-18. The teams spilt the next six points with a kill from Lolland and Laton to bring the score to 22-21.
The Pioneers finish the set outscoring the Knights 3-1 with a kill from O'Sullivan to make the score 25-22.
Sacred Heart takes an early 5-2 lead to open the final set with a kill from Laton. FDU comes back taking five points unanswered with a kill and a service ace from O'Sullivan giving them the lead 7-5. The Pioneers answer by going on a 8-2 point run with a kill from Lolland to regain the lead 12-9. Going on an 8-3 run the Knights would take charge 17-15 with a kill from Laton, O'Sullivan and Addi.
