W. Volleyball to Face Manhattan in Nonconference Match

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team (3-14, 1-3 NEC) will travel to Riverdale, N.Y. for a nonconference match against Manhattan (9-8, 3-3 MAAC) on Wednesday Oct. 8 with first serve slated for 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Knights opened NEC play at home this past weekend falling to LIU Brooklyn in three sets with scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-19 before beating St. Francis Brooklyn in five sets with scores of 25-16, 25-27, 27-25 and 15-11. On Saturday Oct. 7 Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) would lead the way for the offense scoring a team-high 10 kills. At the net for FDU it was junior Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) who led the squad with 22 assists, while freshman Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) led the team on defense with 12 digs. O'Sullivan would lead the team on offense Sunday Oct. 8 with a double-double which included 22 kills and 26 digs. Lolland and sophomore Caroline Laton (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) would have double digit kills recording 15 and 13, respectively. At the net Butler would lead the squad with 58 assists and 16 digs to record her sixth double-double of the season, while Laton would have a team-leading three blocks. On defense junior Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) would lead the way with 28 digs followed closely by senior Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) with 22 digs and junior Grace Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) with 15 digs. After the weekend D. Hong has moved up to 6th on the all-time career digs list with 1,267 digs.

Scouting the Jaspers
Manhattan is coming into the match after falling to Rider on Saturday in five sets, before beating Saint Peter's in four sets on Sunday. On offense for the Jaspers senior Malia McGuinness has a team-leading 206 kills, while junior Sydney Volovski follows with 174 kills. At the net for Manhattan junior Teodora Peric has a squad-leading 451 assists, while senior Anna Kitlar leads the team with 39 blocks. On defense its sophomore Allie Yamashiro that leads the way with 311 digs, followed closely by McGuinness with 218 digs.

Following the non-conference match on Wednesday, FDU will travel to Fairfield Connecticut for an NEC matchup against Sacred Heart on Sunday Oct. 12, with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
