W. Volleyball Set to Open NEC Play At Home

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team (2-13) will host Northeast Conference power house LIU Brooklyn (10-5, 1-0 NEC) on Saturday Oct. 4 with first serve at 1 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 5 the Knights will host St. Francis Brooklyn (2-15, 0-1 NEC), with first serve slated for 1 p.m.


Last Time Out
FDU opened NEC play falling to Robert Morris on Saturday Sept. 27 in three sets with scores of 22-25, 14-25 and 23-25, before falling to Saint Francis U on Sunday Sept. 28 in three sets, with scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-20. Freshmen Carly O'Sullivan (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) and Alex Lolland (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro) would lead the offense for the Knights with 16 and 18 kills, respectively. At the net for FDU, junior Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) would have a team leading 34 assists, while senior Hanifa Addi (Springdale, Md./Charles H. Flowers) lead the squad with 5 total blocks. On Defense senior Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) would record 34 digs, followed closely by junior Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson)'s 17 digs. After the weekend Butler has moved to fourth on the career assists list with 2,094, while Hong has moved into seventh on the career digs list with 1,241 digs.

Scouting the Blackbirds
LIU Brooklyn will be coming into the weekend after beating St. Francis Brooklyn in its NEC opener by a score of 3-0. On offense the Blackbirds are led by senior Annika Foit and junior Tamara Ignjic with 256 and 220 kills, respectively. At the net LIU Brooklyn is led by senior Vera Djuric who has a team-leading 587 assists, while junior Nicole Okeke is leading the squad with 51 blocks. On defense for the Blackbirds junior Adriana Vinas Joy has a dominating 266 digs. Vinas Joy and Djuric also have 15 service aces each, while Foit adds another 14 to that category. 

Scouting the Terriers
St. Francis Brooklyn is coming into the weekend on a ten match losing streak, with its last loss coming against LIU Brooklyn 3-0. The Terriers offence is led by sophomore Domenique Gerard who has 104 kills on the season, and is followed closely by junior Leah Zitting with 101 kills. At the net for St. Francis Brooklyn its junior Kelly O'Halloran who has a dominiating 322 assists and fellow classmate Maggie Niu who has a team-leading 30 blocks. On defense senior Ali Long has a squad-leading 148 digs.
