HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team was defeated by Saint Francis University, 110-69, in Northeast Conference action on Saturday at Stratis Arena. With the victory, the Red Flash improve to 6-12 (4-3 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-17 (0-7 NEC) overall.
FDU trailed by only 14 at the half, but the visitors exploded for 66 points over the final 20 minutes aided by a 10-of-19 effort from long distance in the second half. The Knights converted one three-pointer in the game.
Four players scored in double-figures for FDU, with senior
Desiree Crawford (Aurora, Ontario/Cardinal Carter Catholic) leading the group with 17 points. Junior
Tiffany Grant (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and freshman
Kiana Brown (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) both scored a career-high 13 points off the bench, while freshman
Valerie Oyakhilome (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) chipped in 10 points off the bench. Brown also dished out a career-high six assists to lead the Knights, and sophomore
Anastasia Williams (Central Islip, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) pulled down a career-best 12 rebounds.
Saint Francis' Alli Williams led all scorers and rebounders with 26 points and 17 rebounds, and Alexa Hayward added 21 points.
FDU will have a quick turnaround when it hosts Robert Morris in a conference rematch on Monday, Jan. 27 at Stratis Arena, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Colonials defeated the Knights, 66-51, on Jan. 13.
