W. Tennis Announces 2013-14 Schedule

TEANECK, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis head coach Jonathan Buchman announced the schedule for the 2013-14 season Friday. The Knights, the two-time defending Northeast Conference champions, are fresh off their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament in May.

"Our schedule is loaded with great tournaments and dual matches,” Buchman said. “The fall is highlighted by invitational events at Army, Navy and the USTA, as well as the ITA Regional taking place at Harvard University. We have added new opponents this spring such as Temple and Albany, are competing against five Northeast Conference teams and have maintained our match schedule against annual opponents. It will be a great challenge for our new team, which has only two returning players."

FDU, who finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 11-7 record (4-0 NEC), will get the upcoming season underway at the Stony Brook Classic Sept. 13-15, before competing at the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational Sept. 21-23.

The Knights will conclude the month of September at the West Point Invitational (Sept. 27-29) and will participate at the United States Tennis Association Invitational (Oct. 11-13) before hosting Seton Hall for their home opener and first dual match of the season on Oct. 15.

FDU will then wrap up the fall season at the ITA Regional Championships (Oct. 17-22) and at the NJIT Invitational (Oct. 25-27).

The spring portion of the schedule will begin Feb. 1, 2014 with a dual match at NJIT. The following weekend the Knights will play at Rutgers (Feb. 7) and a neutral site match versus Saint Francis University (Feb. 9), which will start NEC play.

One week later, FDU will play at Temple (Feb. 16) and will conclude the month of February with three dual matches in West Point, N.Y. against Army, St. John's and Albany (Feb. 21-22).

The Knights will play a dual match at Cornell on March 2, before heading out to Palm Springs, Calif. over spring break to participate in four matches, with opponents to be determined. (March 10-13).

After a 10-day layoff, FDU will play four consecutive matches at home, starting with a conference tilt against Sacred Heart on March 22. The Knights will then host Fordham (March 26), NEC-foe LIU Brooklyn (March 29) and Binghamton (April 2).

FDU will play its final road match of the season on April 5 when it takes on Bryant in NEC play. The Knights will then play their final three matches of the year at home against Massachusetts (April 10), NEC-opponent Mount St. Mary's (April 12) and Concordia (April 14).
