W. Soccer Stopped at SFU, 4-1; Clinch No. 2 Seed in NEC Tournament

Box Score

LORETTO, Pa. -- Three first-goals were too much to overcome, as the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team lost to St. Francis University, 4-1, Sunday in the Northeast Conference regular-season finale at Stokes Soccerplex. With the victory, the Red Flash win the regular season title, will host the NEC Tournament next weekend as the No. 1 seed and improve to 11-7 -1 (7-1-0 NEC) on the season, while the Knights finish in second place, earn the No. 2 seed and fall to 8-7-4 (4-1-3 NEC) overall.

SFU scored six minutes into the contest, as three-time conference player of the year Tesa McKibben scored the first of her three goals on the day. The Red Flash then scored on an Ellie Gavin goal (28") and McKibben's second goal (36") to head into halftime up 3-0.

FDU cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 57th minute after junior Kasey Schiavoni (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) delivered a perfect pass on a corner kick to sophomore Amanda Goulet (Quebec City, Quebec/Shattuck-St. Mary's ), who scored on a header for her fourth goal of the season.

However, McKibben put the game away eight minutes later with her hat-trick-clinching goal to give the Red Flash a 4-1 victory.

Senior goalkeeper Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill), who faced 25 shots, including 13 on goal, made a career-high nine saves. The Knights only managed five shots, with one coming on goal.

FDU will return to Loretto, Pa. and the Stokes Soccerplex this Friday, Nov. 8 to face two-time defending NEC Tournament champion LIU Brooklyn in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament, with kickoff still to be determined. The Knights won at LIU, 2-0, earlier this season.
