FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team lost in four sets Saturday night to Sacred Heart at the Pitt Center in Northeast Conference action. With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 13-11 (6-3 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 2-22 (1-9 NEC) overall.
In a closely contested contest, FDU won the first set, 26-24. However, Sacred Heart rebounded to win the final three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22, 27-25.
Freshman Alyssa Mcivor led the Knights with a career-best 18 kills on the offensive end. Sophomore
Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) returned to the lineup to dish out 25 assists and record two service aces.
Defensively, junior
Deborah Hong (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) and sophomore
Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) recorded 20 and 10 digs, respectively, while sophomore
Maddie Gibbons (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights) led the way with five block-assists.
The Knights will have a quick turnaround when they step out of conference play to take on NJIT Sunday at 1 p.m. in Newark, N.J. FDU defeated the Highlanders, 3-2, earlier in the season for its first victory of the season.
