W. Soccer Shut Out at Penn, 4-0

PHILADELPHIA -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team was defeated Sunday on the road by Penn, 4-0, in nonconference action at Rhodes Field. With the victory, the Quakers improve to 6-1-3 on the season, while the Knights fall to 5-6-1 overall.

Twenty-six minutes into the contest Penn took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Clara Midgley. The lead was then extended to 2-0 with just under four minutes to go before halftime on a goal from Shannon Hennessy.

Three minutes after halftime, the Quakers took a commanding 3-0 lead when Megan York found the back of the net. In the 65th minute the home team scored their final tally on Elissa Berdini's goal.

For the match FDU was outshot 13-5 but managed to trim the deficit to 6-4 in the second half. Three of the five shots were on goal. Senior goalkeeper Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill) made two saves in net, as she took the loss between the pipes.

The Knights will return to action Friday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on LIU Brooklyn for a 6 p.m. Northeast Conference contest.
