BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's volleyball team was defeated by St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-1, in a Northeast Conference match Saturday. With the victory, the Terriers improve to 6-17 (2-3 NEC) on the season, while the Knights fall to 1-17 (0-5 NEC) overall.
St. Francis won the first set, 25-19, before FDU came back to tie match at 1-1 with a 29-27 victory in set two. The Terriers then pulled away for victories in the final two sets, winning by scores of 25-22 and 25-19.
Freshman 
Courtney Kovensky (Highland, Calif./Citrus Valley) led the Knights on offense with 13 kills, while sophomore 
Allison Butler (Plano, Texas/Plano) dished out 35 assists. Both Butler and graduate student 
Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) each had three service aces, as FDU had seven in the match.
On the defensive side of the net, Slabakova came away with a match-high 16 digs. Sophomore 
Corey Lostetter (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) added 10 digs, and freshman 
Alexa Oblak (Sunrise, Fla./Western) recorded five block-assists.
The Knights will return to Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday to face NEC power LIU Brooklyn for a 1 p.m. contest.
