The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will resume Northeast Conference action with matchups against Sacred Heart and LIU Brooklyn this weekend. FDU will travel to Fairfield, CT on Friday and Brooklyn, NY on Saturday.
The Knights will take on the Pioneers at Fairfield University Friday in a 1:00 pm double header before facing the Blackbirds on Saturday in a noon start.
The Knights currently top the Northeast Conference standings with a 5-1 conference record and a 20-7 mark overall this season. They most recently split a pair of games against BIG EAST opponent, St. John's.
FDU is led by senior Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) at the plate. She has maintained a .436 batting average through 27 games. The California native has recorded 25 RBIs, and 16 extra-base hits in 94 at bats.
As a team, the Knights are batting .329, with nine members of the team batting over .300. They have out-scored opponents, 141-78 so far.
On the mound, Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall) leads FDU with a 12-0 record and a 1.34 ERA. The rookie has struck out 77 batters in 87 innings and is holding opponents to a .186 batting average.
The Pioneers of SHU are 12-20 on the season with a 4-4 conference record. After being selected to finish third in the coaches' pre-season poll, they currently sit in fourth place. SHU split with Wagner and Monmouth, fell to Quinnipiac and defeated the Mount in conference games this season.
SHU is led by Kate Nadler. Nadler has recorded a .313 batting average in 31 games. Annie Dreher leads the team with 18 RBIs and is batting .237 from the plate.
The Pioneers have been out-scored, 165-120 in 32 games this season. They maintain a team batting average of .238 and a team ERA of 4.49.
LIU Brooklyn is 11-29 on the season with a 3-3 conference record. The Blackbirds began the season 2-19 with a tough non-conference slate. Since that time, they defeated Bryant, split with Saint Francis PA and fell to Robert Morris.
LIU is led by Nichole Toven. Toven is hitting .294 and has knocked in 14 runs in 85 at bats.
The Blackbirds have been out-scored by opponents, 196-118 in 40 games this season. They maintain a team batting average of .222 and a team ERA of 4.00.
After traveling to Iona on the 11th, the Knights will begin a five-game home stand.
