The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team defeated Siena, 4-1, Thursday afternoon at the FDU Softball Field in Hackensack, NJ. The Knights were leading the second game, 2-1, before the contest was called in the top of the third due to rain. With the victory, the Knights improve to 28-18 on the season, while the Saints fall to 18-22 overall.
Freshman
Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall) (16-7) went this distance on the mound, yielding only one earned run on six hits, while allowing only one walk and striking out eight.
Siena's Amanda Filipazzo was charged with the loss as she allowed four earned runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out one.
Freshman
Jordan Needle (Camarillo, CA/La Reina College Prep) led FDU's seven-hit performance by going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Sophomore
Maria Roney (Anacortes, WA/Anacortes) added two hits and a RBI.
Shannon Jones went 3-for-3, collecting half of the Saints' hits, to lead their offense.
Siena took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Alyssa Sceppaguercio's two-out solo home run over the left-field fence.

Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) singled before being lifted for senior pinch runner
Allaire Primiano (Tarrytown, NY/Sleepy Hollow). Needle followed with a bloop single to center field, which advanced Primiano to third. On the play, Needle took second base on the throw to third.
Roney drove home Primiano for the first run with a RBI single to center field. With two outs and runners on second and third, sophomore
Paige Castro (Elk Grove, CA/Franklin) dropped down a bunt and beat the throw from the pitcher for a RBI single, scoring Needle.
After Reiner pitched a 1-2-3 top of the fifth, FDU tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the inning to extend its lead to 4-1. With one out, freshman
Cindy Zamudio (Wilmington, Calif./Redondo Union) drew a walk and stole second base. After senior
Kirsten Shreve (Kent, WA/Kentwood) singled to left field to advance Zamudio to third, Needle stroked a two-out, two-run double to center field, plating both Zamudio and Shreve.
Reiner retired the final five batters she faced to clinch the 4-1 victory for the Knights.
FDU will be back on action on Saturday, April 28 for its final two home contests of the season. Senior day activities will take place before the Noon start against Wagner at the FDU Softball Field.
