The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will host Columbia in a mid-week double header, Wednesday, April 18 in Hackensack, NJ. First-pitch in game one is slated for 3:00 pm at the FDU Softball Field.
The Knights dropped four games to Monmouth and Quinnipiac last weekend and are now 23-16 on the season, with a 5-9 mark in the Northeast Conference.
At the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, the Knights defeated Columbia 11-3. After going ahead early in the game, Columbia fought back with a homerun to and took a 2-3 lead.
The Knights reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run single by Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove). The Knights went on to add six more unanswered runs to take the win and more to 12-4 on the season.
Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall) earned the win against the Lions with just two earned runs on eight hits. She struck out four and walked no one.
Bradac leads the Knights with a .413 batting average, while six other players are hitting above .310. The Knights are hitting .305 as a team, while holding opponents to .262.
The Lions have since moved to 10-25 on the season with a 4-8 Ivy League record. Tristin Moone leads the team with a .333 batting average. She has compiled 14 RBIs in 57 at bats. She also leads the team with four home runs.
Following the mid-week matchup, the Knights will host Mount St. Mary's and travel to Bryant in this weekend's conference slate.
