The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will begin Northeast Conference action debut the 2012 home season with a double header against the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State University on Sunday, March 25. First pitch in Hackensack, NJ is slated for 12:00 pm.
The Knights have started the season 14-5, most recently splitting a double header against Army on Tuesday, March 20.
Freshman Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall), last week's NEC Rookie of the Week, earned her eighth win of the season last week. She is now 8-0 on the year, with an ERA of 1.07.
Classmate, Cindy Zamudio (Wilmington, Calif./Redondo Union) is leading the Knights' offense with a .448 batting average. Zamudio has scored a team-leading 17 runs and has not struck out in 67 at bats.
Senior Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) has been a power hitter for FDU this season. She is maintaining a .431 batting average with 11 extra-base hits and a slugging percentage of .677.
Including Zamudio and Bradac, eight members of the team are currently hitting over .300, with the team batting average at .330. They have out-scored opponents, 105-51 in 19 games this season.
The Blue Devils are 16-8 on the year, most recently defeating Holy Cross, 9-3. CCSU has five players hitting .300 or better, with senior Rebecca Mussatti leading the team with a .338 average in 65 at bats.
Laura Messina leads the Blue Devils on the mound with a 1.90 ERA and a 10-3 record.
CCSU has out-scored opponents, 107-106 in 23 games this season. They maintain a team average of .277 at the plate and a team ERA of 3.57.
The Knights will travel to Western Pennsylvannia March 31 and April 1 to face Saint Francis PA and Robert Morris in two weekend double headers.
