Game 1 Box Score               Game 2 Box Score

The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team split a doubleheader against Army on Tuesday, March 20 in West Point, NY.  The Knights won game one, 1-0, in 10 innings before falling, 4-1, in game two.

The Knights improve to 14-5 on the season.

After nine scoreless innings in which freshman Megan Reiner (Los Angeles, Calif./John Marshall) allowed only three hits, the Knights took the win with one run in the 10th inning.

Paige Castro (Elk Grove, CA/Franklin) walked to begin the frame before advancing to second on a ground out.  Freshman Bryana Dorado (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard) drove Castro home on an RBI single to right field.

Reiner earned the win and moved to 8-0 on the season.  She pitched 10.0 innings, striking out a career-high 12 batters, while allowing no earned runs and no walks.

In game two, the Black Knights took a four-run lead in the bottom of the third inning.  After a runner reached first, she was advanced to second on a bunt and scored on a double to left field.  With two runners on, Army's Alex Reynolds hit a three-run home run to right-center field to put the Black Knights up 4-0.

Both teams were held scoreless through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

A single from freshman Jordan Needle (Camarillo, CA/La Reina College Prep) gave the Knights a base runner in the top of the seventh inning.  A double from Maria Roney (Anacortes, WA/Anacortes) drive home a run to bring the Knights within three runs.  Roney advanced to third but was unable to score as the final two outs of the game were recorded on groundouts.

Needle led the Knights with two hits in three at bats, while Roney went 1-for-3 with the team's only RBI.

Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) was tagged with the loss in game two.  She faced 12 batters and allowed four earned runs on six hits.

The Knights will host Central Connecticut State University on Sunday, March 25 in Hackensack, NJ.  First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for noon.
