The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will travel to Fairfield, CT on Saturday, March 3 to take on top-ranked Sacred Heart in the quarterfinals of the Northeast Conference Tournament, presented by Ruby Tuesday.  Tip off at the William H. Pitt Center is slated for 1:00 pm.

The Knights earned the no. 8 seed by finishing 13-17 on the season with an 8-10 mark in Northeast Conference action.  Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) earned First-Team All Conference honors after producing 17.4 points per game and setting the single-game record in the NEC this season with 42 points against Monmouth.  Freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) was named to the All-Rookie team after putting up 10.9 points per game and grabbing 7.1 rebounds per game.

Sacred Heart is led by NEC Coach of the Year, Ed Swanson.  Swanson's Pioneers are 22-7 on the season with a 15-3 record in conference play.  SHU claimed the regular season title and will maintain home court advantage through the tournament, if they prevail in the quarterfinal contest.

SHU is led by NEC Player if the Year, Callan Taylor.  Taylor averaged 17.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season.  Rookie of the Year, Garbrielle Washington adds 12.3 points per game for SHU.

As a team, the Pioneers average 65.3 points per game, more than eight points greater than their opponents.  They bring down 37 rebounds per contest and lead the league with 15.6 assists per game.

The Knights have earned the win on just one of 22 occasions against Sacred Heart, dating back to 1997.

FDU fell to first-place Sacred Heart, 47-62, Saturday, Feb. 4 at Stratis Arena.  Led by 27 points from Taylor, the Pioneers took a double-digit lead late in the first half and never looked back.  The Knights were out-shot just 32 percent to 36.5 percent, but the Pioneers took 13 more shots than the Knights, enabling their point total to rise rapidly.

The semifinal round of the Northeast Conference Tournament will be held Tuesday, March 6 at the highest remaining seeds.  The Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, March 11 at 3:00 pm.  The championship game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
