The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team concluded its trip to Palm Springs, CA with another win as the Knights took down Fairfield by a 5-2 score on Thursday to improve to 5-7 on the season.

 All of the doubles matches were close with FDU taking two of the three from Fairfield (6-2) to earn the point. Playing together for the first time, freshman Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) and senior Marco Jemersic (Zagreb, Croatia/X Gimnazija Ivan Supek) beat Dennis Zlobinsky and George Tioutine, 8-6, at No. 1.

FDU was also victorious at No. 2 thanks to the play of junior Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim) and senior Dominic Hemy (Suffolk, England/Ipswich School), who outplayed Fairfield's Joe Michalisin and Erik Kremheller, 8-6.

The Knights proved to be strong at the top of their lineup with wins at No. 1, 2 and 3 to go with a win at No. 5. Berzins claimed a two-set win over Zlobinsky, 6-2, 6-2, at the top slot.

Junior Ibrahim Shams (Cairo, Egypt/Manor House) had to fight for his comeback win at No. 2 singles. The Stags' Ian Tesmond won the first set by a score of 6-3, but Shams bounced back with wins of 7-6, 6-1 in the final two sets to pull out the win.

Gricheno was also a winner at No. 3 over Michalisin, 7-5, 6-2. At No. 5, another junior, Peter Skvarka (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia/Gymnazium J.G. Tajovskeho), earned a come-from-behind win over Tioutine by a score of 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3.
