W. Basketball Looks to Begin NEC win Streak

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will continue Northeast Conference play with a home contest against Wagner on Monday, Jan. 9.  Tip-off at Stratis Arena is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Knights are fresh off their first conference win over Mount St. Mary's.  FDU defeated The Mount, 63-58 on Saturday, Jan. 7.  Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) led the team with 21 points including seven of eight free-throws late in the second half.  Freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and sophomore Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) also helped the Knights out-score MSM with 15 and 11 points, respectively.  The duo paced the team with nine rebounds each.

Livermore was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on two consecutive occasions during the month of December.  She is currently averaging 8.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Seahawks are 2-12 on the season with a 1-2 mark in conference play.  Wagner defeated Columbia on November 16 and St. Francis NY during the first week of conference play but has been held winless since then.

Their most recent game, a 42-65 loss at Monmouth, increased their losing streak to seven games.

Kelly Clark leads Wagner with 13.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.  Two others, Marie Archambault and Jacqui Thompson, add seven points per game for the Seahawks.

As a team the Seahawks average 50.9 points per game, while allowing 67.7 points per contest.  They take down 37 boards off the glass each game and allow 22.1 turnovers per game.

The series between the Seahawks and the Knights dates back to 1977 and has Wagner leading the series, 32-30.  The Knights have remained unbeated against the Seahawks since 2005.
In last year's 83-71 win, Laury set a program and conference record with 38 points at Spiro Sports Center.
