The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will resume Northeast Conference action with a home game against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 4:30 pm.
The Knights are 5-9 on the season with an 0-2 mark in NEC play after falling to Saint Francis PA and Robert Morris in early December. They most recently fell to Howard University, 56-66 on December 30.
FDU is led by senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange), who is averaging 14.5 points per game and is steadily climbing the ranks of all-time scorers in FDU program history. Laury currently ranks fifth with 1,604 career points.
Freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) has been named the NEC Rookie of the Week on two consecutive occasions this year, including this week. Livermore scored a career-high 24 points and added 15 rebounds in the Knights last win over Columbia, 71-51.
The Mount enter the game 6-7 with two wins in the NEC. In the opening weekend of conference play they defeated LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis NY. In their most recent outing, the Mount also fell to Howard, 55-67.
MSM is led by three strong scoreres. Sydney Henderson paces the team with 9.3 points per game, while Jessie Kaufman and Ashley Christie add 7.7 and 7.2 points per game, respectively. Henderson also leads the team on the boards with 4.1 a game.
The Mount average 53.6 points per game, compared to the Knights' 54.2. They take down 30.9 rebounds per game and give up an average of 17.7 turnovers per contest.
FDU trails in the all-time series that dates back to 1990 with just 19 wins on 42 occasions. The Knights hold the advantage, 12-7 when playing at the Rothman Center. The Knights defeated MSM, 55-44 in 2010 before falling, 76-83 in last year's only meeting. Laury led the Knights with 22 points in last year's contest in Emmittsburg, Md.
The Knights will continue NEC action on Monday with a home contest against Wagner. Tip off at Stratis Arena in slated for 7:00 pm.
