W. Basketball Looks to Extend Win Streak at St. Francis NY

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will aim to push their Northeast Conference win-streak to three games as they travel to Brooklyn Heights, NY on Saturday, Jan. 14 to take on St. Francis NY.  Tip-off at the Pope Physical Education Center is slated for 2:00 pm as part of a men's/women's double header.

The Knights are fresh off a season-high 86 point game on Monday, Jan. 9.  With the large point total the Knights defeated the Seahawks, 86-49.  Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) led the squad with 27 points, while newcomer Stephanie Isaacs (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) added 12. 

Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned her third-consecutive NEC Rookie of the Week award with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and Torrie Childs (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) rounded out the double-digit scoreres with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Laury was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week for her performance last weekend.  In wins over Mount St. Mary's and Wagner Laury accumulated 48 points, 11 assists and nine steals.

The Knights improved to 7-9 on the season with the win over Wagner and improved to 2-2 in NEC play.

St. Francis is 1-14 on the season with a 0-4 mark in Northeast Conference play.  The Terriers are currently on an 11-game losing streak with losses to Wagner, Mount St. Mary's, Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart in conference.  Their lone win was a 48-44 victory over Columbia.

The Terriers average 44.4 points per game, 15.6 less than their opponents, while bringing down 31.3 rebounds per game and turning the ball over 23.2 times per contest.

Jayme Veney leads the team with 9.5 points per game, while Jessica Kaufman adds 9.2 points per game and leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Knights own the advantage in the all-time series against the Terriers with 44 wins and 13 losses.  FDU has taken wins at St. Francis on 16 of 24 occasions. 

In 2011 the Knights defeated St. Francis, 69-49 at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, improving their home record to 22-4 against St. Francis NY.

Pankey led the Knights' offense against the Terriers last year with 16 points, while senior Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) had a career-high 13 rebounds and blocked six shots. 

The Knights will return to Brooklyn on Monday, Jan. 16 to face LIU Brooklyn in a 2:00 pm tip-off.
