M. Soccer Contines Road Swing at Princeton on Friday

The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team will hit the road for the final of three-straight road contests when they travel to central New Jersey to take on Garden State rival Princeton on Friday night. Kick-off at Roberts Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Princeton, NJ.

The Knights (2-1-0) are coming off their first loss of the season on Sept. 3 at UMBC in the Holiday Inn Express BWI Classic. FDU won its first game in the tournament, a 1-0 win, on Sept. 1 at Navy. Sophomore Jonathan Gonzalez (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) assisted fellow classmate Liam Cahill (Whiting, N.J./Manchester Township) for the game winner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Lissek (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon) has only given up two goals in 279 minutes of action this season. Cahill, Gonzalez and junior Antony Moore (Douglas, Isle of Man/St. Ninian’s ) have each scored a goal this season for the Knights.

Princeton (0-1-1), Ivy League champions in 2010, began their season last weekend in Charleston, SC, participating in a College of Charleston-hosted tournament by tying the host Cougars before losing to Furman 1-0.

Friday's contest will be the 21st meeting in the all-time series, which dates back to 1987, with the Tigers holding a 13-5-2 advantage. FDU has lost four straight in the series, including a pair of heartbreakers. Princeton scored a goal late in the match last season to escape with a 1-0 victory at University Field and won a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the Knights in Princeton two years ago. The Knights last victory in the series occurred in 2006, a 3-0 shutout victory.

The Knights will be looking to start 3-1-0 for the first time since 2006 when they started out 3-1-2.

After playing Princeton, FDU will have a week off before returning to the pitch to host Yale on Friday, Sept. 16. Kick-off at University Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
