The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will conclude the regular season with two Northeast Conference doubleheaders this weekend. The Knights will travel to Emmitsberg, MD to take on Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, April 30 and will host Long Island University on Sunday, May 1.
The Knights bout with The Mount will begin at 1:00 pm. MSM is currently 14-24 on the season with a 4-8 NEC record. They are ranked 10th in the conference standings.
The Mount is led by Courtney Zingle who has averaged .320 at the plate in 28 games this season. Zingle has recorded 39 hits and 21 RBIs. Beth Everist leads the team in runs knocked in with 29 RBIs. She also leads the team with six homeruns.
On the mound the Mount is led by Nicole Pagano. Pagano has a 9-11 record on the season with a 3.06 ERA in 114 innings. Opposing batters are currently averaging .260 against the righty, New Jersey native.
First-pitch against Long Island is slated for 2:00 pm on Sunday in Hackensack, NJ. The Blackbirds will play Sacred Heart on Saturday but are currently ranked ninth in the NEC with a 5-9 record. They are 15-32 overall.
The Blackbirds are led by senior Bianca Mejia who has averaged .353 this season. Emily Kakuska leads the team with 21 RBIs and 44 hits. She has averaged a .317 in 139 at bats.
Freshman Heather White leads the Blackbirds' pitching staff. White has an ERA of 3.87 and has held batters to just .272.
The weekend series will conclude the Knights season.
