The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will play a pair of non-conference double-headers this week. On Wednesday, April 20 the Knights will travel to Manhattan to take on the Jaspers in a 3:00 pm game. On Thursday, April 2 FDU will host Fordham with a 3:00 pm start in Hackensack, NJ.
The Knights are currently 21-16 overall with a 6-0 Northeast Conference record. They are led by Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) who has accumulated a batting average of .357 and an ERA of 3.27. Bradac has ten wins on the mound and has struck out 87 batters in 18 appearances. Freshman Berkleigh Massey (Oceanside, CA/Rancho Buena Vista) has a .495 slugging percentage with a team-leading 20 runs.
The Jaspers are 16-18 on the season with a 5-3 record in the MAAC. They most recently swept a two-game series with MCAA first-place team Marist. The Jaspers were led by Kristina Walraven who blasted a three-run homerun in game one. Walraven is third on the team in offense with a batting average of .283. Kate Bowen leads Manhattan with a .318 average and a 3.20 ERA on the mound.
Thursday's opponents, the Rams, are currently on a six-game winning streak. After sweeping George Washington, La Salle and Charlotte Fordham sits atop the Atlantic 10 standings with an overall record of 28-16. Jocelyn Dearborn leads the Rams with a .366 batting average and a .746 slugging average. She also leads the team with 12 home runs. Jen Mineau leads the pitching staff with a 1.80 ERA, a 13-7 record and 161 strike outs in 128 innings.
The Knights will travel to Hamden, CT on Saturday, April 23 for a Northeast Conference contest with Quinnipiac. First-pitch in the double-header is slated for noon.
