Softball Concludes Play at Rebel Spring Games

The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team concluded play at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL on Saturday, March 19 with a win over Bucknell and a loss to Siena.  The Knights move to 12-7 on the season after going 7-5 during the week.

The Knights took on the 2010 Patriot League Champions, Bucknell in the morning slot.  Kirsten Shreve (Kent, WA/Kentwood) pitched a complete game for the Knights, allowing the Bison just five hits and one run.  After five scoreless innings for both teams, Caitlin Bradac (Garden Grove, CA/Garden Grove) picked up two runs batted in on a single to center field in the sixth inning.  The Knights took the win, 2-1.

In the afternoon game FDU took on Siena.  The Knights and the Saints battled hard for the win but FDU was not able to produce strong offensive options.  FDU fell, 3-2 in eight innings.

Maire Shaughnessy (Culpeper, Va./Highland) pitched for the Knights in their final game in Kissimmee.  In eight innings she allowed just three runs.

The Knights return Hackensack where they will host three double-headers before hitting the road again.  On Saturday, March 10 they will battle Siena in a double-header rematch of the loss on the 19th.  On Sunday, March 27 FDU will  begin Northeast Conference play against Robert Morris.
