The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team will begin the 2011 season at the Norfolk State Tournament in Norfolk, VA on Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27.
FDU went 2-2 in the Norfolk State tournament in 2010, defeating Norfolk State and Rider and dropping a pair to Iona.
The Knights will take on Morgan State in their season opener with a game on Saturday at 3:00 pm. FDU defeated MSU in two games last season, 9-1 and 6-4, at the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament.
At 7:00 pm on Saturday the Knights face Iona. The Knights fell to Iona twice last season 2-4, and 7-12.
To begin competition on Sunday, the Knights will matchup with host Norfolk State in a 3:00 pm game. In last year's tournament, the Knights defeated NSU 1-0.
To close the tournament the Knights will face George Washington. First-pitch is set for 5:00 pm Sunday. FDU last faced George Washington in 2003 when they defeated the Colonials, 12-3.
Following the Norfolk State Tournament, the Knights will travel to Hampton, Virginia for the Hampton University Tournament March 4-6.
