W. Basketball Set to Take on Robert Morris on Monday

Game Notes

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will continue the Western Pennsylvania road trip with a Monday night contest at Robert Morris University.  Tip-off at the Charles L. Sewall Center is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Knights are coming off a 56-70 loss to Saint Francis University in their Northeast Conference season opener.

FDU took an early lead at Saint Francis but ultimately fell to the Red Flash on Saturday.  Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) led the team with 14 points and a career-high nine assists.  Freshman Erika Livermore (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) added seven points and paced the team on the boards with ten.

The Colonials of Robert Morris are 6-1 on the season after winning games over Coppin State, Kent State, Elon, Delaware State, Central Michigan and most recently Monmouth.  RMU has only fallen to Stony Brook so far this season.

In the opening game of Northeast Conference action, the Colonials defeated Monmouth, 57-54.  RMU had three players score over ten points, Josette Campbell with 19, Artemis Spanou with 13 and Mary Durojaye with 10.  Durojaye also had 11 rebounds for the Colonials.

On the season, the Colonials have five players averaging double-digit points.  Spanou leads the squad with 14.6 points per game and 9 rebounds, while Durojaye adds 12.9 points and 9.7 rebounds.

The team has averaged 63.6 points per game and 44.4 rebounds per game.  They have out-rebounded every opponent they have faced and currently hold a rebound margin advantage of 8.3 boards per game.

The Colonials are currently on a four-game home win streak.  They did not fall to an NEC opponent at home last season.

The Colonials hold the advantage in the all-time series between FDU and RMU.  Robert Morris has taken the 'W' on 28 occasions, while the Knights have won 21, including the last time the teams met.

The Knights faced RMU twice last season.  After struggling in Moon Twp. and dropping a 53-67 loss, the Knights rebounded for a win at home.  On senior night at the Rothman Center, Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange)'s 24 points led FDU to a 79-76 win.

The win was the Knights' first against Robert Morris since 2004.  They had gone 12-straight games without a win against the Colonials.

After the game in Moon Twp. the Knights will take nine days off before facing Stony Brook on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
