The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (4-7) will take on the Broncs of Rider University, Thursday, Dec 22 in Lawrenceville, N.J. The Knights are looking to create a win streak before they break for the holidays. Tip-off at Alumni Gym is slated for 7:00 pm.
The Knights most recently earned a win over Stony Brook, 51-48. Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) and sophomore Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) combined for 31 of the team's 46 points to lead the Knights to their first victory in December.
The Broncs are 6-3 on the season thus far with wins over St. Francis NY, Stony Brook and NJIT as well as Lafayette, Bucknell and Binghamton.
They finished the 2010-11 season with a 5-25 record and were picked to finish eighth in the MAAC this season.
Rider is led by MyNeshia McKenzie who is averaging 13.1 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game. Ali Heller adds 11.2 points per game for the Broncs.
Rider was a member of the Northeast Conference between 1992 and 1997, paving the way for 21 meetings between the two Garden State teams. After 11 straight losses to the Broncs, FDU defeated Rider in 2009 and 2010.
The Knights have won nine times in the series dating back to 1978, while the Broncs have picked up the 'W' 12 times.
In 2010 FDU defeated RU, 77-50 on November 29 behind 15 points from Laury.
