The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (3-9, 2-1 NEC) will be looking to end a six-game losing streak as they play the last of three-straight home contests on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Knights will be looking to knock off NEC preseason favorite Quinnipiac at 4:00 p.m. at Stratis Arena in Hackensack. The game will be streamed live on the web at www.fduknights.com.
FDU is coming off a disappointing 67-50 loss to Sacred Heart at home Thursday night. The Knights led, 43-38, with a little over seven minutes remaining before the Pioneers ended the game on a 29-7 run. Senior Kamil Svrdlik (Prerov, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Zlin) led the Knights with 13 points.
Quinnipiac (10-3, 2-1 NEC) comes into the contest winners of five of its last six. On Thursday night, the Bobcats rallied from 14 points down in the second half to edge Monmouth, 72-70. The visitors are a perfect 4-0 on the road this season.
After playing Sacred Heart, the Knights will hit the road for the long road trip to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris (Jan. 13) and Saint Francis PA (Jan. 15). Tip-off for both games is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Series Versus Quinnipiac: The Knights hold a 16-11 advantage in the series, including a 12-3 edge in home games. The Bobcats have won three straight in the series, including both games last season, 73-52 in Hamden and 74-65 in Hackensack. The last FDU win took place on Jan. 3, 2009 as the Knights held on for a 72-68 victory in Stratis Arena.
